Accelerate Land Consolidation and Search for More Sediment
The land consolidation (restoration for agriculture) business began with North Korean leader Kim Jong Il passing by Kangwon Province in May 1998, whilst carrying out ‘on the spot guidance’.
He organised an “officials concerned meeting” in the local area to instruct the land consolidation of Kangwon Province as the starting point, and later expanded this to the entire territory. The North Korean media state that the first year after the completion of land consolidation in Kangwon Province, agricultural output had increased 2.5 times.
